comedy

so I have been thinking about comedy and what makes something funny. And one of my conclusions is that something is only funny to us if something is getting hurt. puns are funny because you are abusing language, raunchy comedy makes us laugh because it offends our sense of propriety or places a character into embarrassing situations. but not to worrybecause I have noticed something else, when a person falls down a flight of stairs we only laugh if he immediately gets back up because at some level we as human beings are hard wired to care for each other. This makes me wonder, how can I do Comedy that cares. Comedy that does not appeal to the lowest common denominator comedy that wont revert to fart jokes because it is solid enough on its own to not need that crutch. And so I have engaged myself on a quest to find comedy a style for myself that I can use with children, consenting adults, at church, or anywhere else and it will be edgy enough (or relevant enough) to be engaging but will not offend if my grandmother ever heard it. anyway those are my thoughts for now , Peace and God bless
